VietNamNet Bridge – Tourists heading for Mui Ne Beach Resort on September 13 and 14 (August 14 and 15 of the lunar calendar) will have a chance to enjoy the annual Mid-Autumn Festival 2008 in Phan Thiet coastal city. The festival is being held for children from the city and from two neighboring districts of Ham Thuan Bac and Ham Thuan Nam, and will take place in Nguyen Tat Thanh Square. The event will start with traditional song and dance performances with sparkling colors of lanterns everywhere. The event will feature a lantern festival parade and mid-autumn lantern contest with the participation of about local 31 units and 41 schools. Thus the festive nights will be completely animated with over 4,000 multi-colored lanterns, in shapes from the world of children and familiar Vietnamese sights, parading along main streets of the coastal city. The children's festival is held to honor the country and to recognize the dreams of children. As such, the event aims to introduce a typical image of the city and to attract more visitors to enjoy the event in the tourism city. A local magazine, Vietbooks, has recognized the annual festival in the province as the most imposing and best Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam. Moreover, the coastal central province of Binh Thuan's authorities have affirmed the event as a traditional festival for tourism. (Source: SGT) |
